An Intern Certificate is the license that allows you teach as the Teacher of Record prior to receiving your Standard Certificate. This document is issued by the Texas Education Agency. This will allow you to teach as teacher and be paid as one for one full year.
How do I receive the Intern Certificate?
To receive your Intern Certificate, you must first receive your Statement of Eligibility. This document can be obtained through iteach by completing a series of steps:
- Complete Pre-Hire Courses (5100-5300)
- Upload Observation Log
- Set up Payment Plan
- Content Test(s) Passed
After completing these steps, you will receive your Statement of Eligibility from iteach. Once you are hired by a district, the school must fill out the SOE and then return it to iteach. Once we have received the document and you have successfully created an Intern Certificate (see the steps below for more details), iteach can recommend you for your Intern Certificate.
How To Navigate To The Application
From here you will have to create an application for the Intern Certificate on the Texas Education Agency’s website.
Go to the log in page, and enter your account.
Once logged in, you will find a link to your “Educator Certification Account”.
After clicking on the link, you will be brought to another page. Here you will see a side bar on the left side with a number of sections. Click on the dropdown that says “Applications”, and then find the button that reads “Intern Certificate Texas Program”.
After selecting that, you will be brought to a screen with the requirements for the application listed. It is here that you can create your application for your Intern Certificate.
