The Statement of Eligibility (SOE) is a written document indicating the teaching candidate’s eligibility for a Standard Certificate.
In order to receive the SOE, you must be accepted into the iteachTEXAS program and fulfill the initial requirements of:
- 30 hours of observation
- Completion the Pre-Hired Courses (5100 – 5300)
- Content test passed (including all supplemental test, if needed) in the area of hire
Once you have fulfilled the initial requirements listed above, you will receive the Statement of Eligibility and will then be eligible for hire.
You may begin securing an internship as soon as you have received this document. You must present this to school districts for verification of eligibility for field experience. Once you obtain a field experience placement, you must complete all of the program requirements by the end of your field experience.
What To Do With The SOE
After receiving the Statement of Eligibility, you will present it to the school that chooses to hire you.
(It is also good to show it to the districts in the conversations leading up to your interview to prove that you are indeed eligible. The more prepared you appear, the better your chances of getting hired!)
If the school elects to hire you, the school will fill out the form and send it back to iteach. After this, iteach can recommend you for your Intern Certificate. This is the step that allows you to be paid and to serve as a full teacher for your 1-year residency.
All SOE’s returned to iteach must be emailed to email@example.com.
