In order to become eligible for hire as a teaching intern, you must obtain 30 observation hours. At least 15 of these hours must be obtained in the classroom. The remaining 15 hours can be obtained either in person or through online observation via the Teaching Channel.
The 15 in-person hours must be obtained at a TEA approved school.
Please note that your observation experience does not need to be in a classroom of the same content area as what you have been identified as. For example, you can be identified for high school math and still receive hours from observing an elementary science class.
When Can I Get My Hours?
You are able to start gathering the observation hours prior to even being enrolled in the program! The hours must be logged in an Observation Log that is accessible in course 5000, which is available to anyone as it is open to take prior to enrollment.
